Hah, yeah, so much for all the Sky attacks, Landa needs to get his Astana form back, but they were there in numbers and Tinkoff defended with just two guys left, plus 'Berto of course, who never looked in trouble.

I thought BMC were going to launch a big attack for Porte when they all came rushing forward, but it was all just a bluff and they soon disappeared off the front.

 

Nice win by Movistar, they always get something out of every event they go to, super strong team this.

Yeah, for sure, no team will try to lose the jersey (that's not what I was saying ). My point was just that they'd prefer not to get it too early - to avoid having to defend it from day 1.

Yeah, true, when I saw Tinkoff dawdling around and letting the break get up the road, I thought maybe 'Berto was going to let it go, maybe he would have,... but when the pace picked up he had no more choice in the matter.

Nah I think when BMC moved to the front they were trying to set up a move for Van Avermaet to go for the win. They'll work to keep Porte close to AC and if an opportunity presents itself then they might have a crack at getting the Yellow Jersey but today's move was purely for Van Avermaet.

Very impressive ride from Serge! Timed it well I think. Pity the race situation changed so dramatically in the last 250 meters. Agree that he could've won but holding on for third is good too.

 

All in all a good day for DiData. Danny T in the break hunting KOM points and Keagan's starting to stabilise and recover too!

Haha! I was feeling the same! I couldn't believe how hard they were riding and it just seemed like everyone was hurting so much, yet they just kept at it! Only watched the last 20mins of the stage and thoroughly enjoyed it.
