Looking forward to my first.

Following the proposed training programme, and so far managed to keep to it.

Got an entry for the 2nd Baviaans. Would be my 9th one. Then came across a guy unable to attend the 1st one. So, grabbed his spot.

 

So this year, double Baviaans, No 9 and 10 done. Going to get my 2nd Baviaans Shield

Great cannot wait for my 2nd one.

 

Things to do/think differently than first time:

1. Stop worrying, it is really not that hard

2. Don't pack the complete Spar in, there is more than enough food provided

3. First 110km pace can be upped, then relax and take it easy (if you are climber)

4. Enjoy more than one cup of soup at Bergplaas and enjoy the sunset

5. Pack your face full with jaffels at the last water point - best jaffels ever

 

AND lastly remember, this is the best race there is!!

You only get 1 medal per year as far as I know, so if you do week 1 and week 2 it wont count as 2 seperate events to get the 5x times shield. You basically have to do it 5years.

Well done! Just check whether both in one year actually 'count' as 2 towards your shield. I seem to recall that the question was asked before and only one count 'per year'. 

 

I'm on my 7th.

Well that would be k@k. And very unfair. 230km through Baviaans is 230km through Baviaans. If that's the case I'll flog my spot on the 1st weeks team.
