Any chance of a course on setting of the gears and cables etc?

Sure. That would take about an hour or 2 at most. It is part of the normal course too, but I'm sure I can do a "Gears and Cables" masterclass. Love that word :)

turns out breaking a chain is a lot like changing a car tyre - the theory is all there but the physical strength required (especially with small chain break tool) - is gonna take some practice and weight training at the gym  :blush:

Once a month in Jhb.

 

My day job and young family pretty much precludes me from travelling to present these. And cost obviously.

 

That said, I'd love to find a way to do this....

What will you learn? Wheels and tyres:
  • Removing and installing a wheel into your fork/frame – method depends on axle configuration
  • Repairing a puncture & changing a tube and tyre
  • Tubeless tyres and checking/adding sealant
  • Basic rim truing for buckled wheels
  • CO2 cartridge use
Drivetrain:
  • Chain cleaning, lube, replacement and maintenance
  • Checking for chain wear
  • Using a chain tool and quick links
  • Cassette removal and replacement
  • Crank and chainring components and replacement
  • Discussion: bottom brackets
  • Replacing pedals
  • Discussion: how to get the most life from your drivetrain components
  • Bring a replacement chain and cassette if you wish to replace yours during the workshop
