[/quote']There is no doubt that South Africa is a very special place. Even with everything that is seriously wrong it still is has attractions. But Carbon Boys attitude is a very selfish one. Sure there are opportunities to make quick money but the problem is that the country as a whole isn't going to strengthen on the international scale and it will become ever more polarised with the very rich & very poor. It is becoming just another African country rather than leading the African renaissance.

 

The main, if not only reason people like Saffa, Willehond etc are leaving or considering it is because there are problems here that cannot be ignored. Remove the problems and we wouldn't even be discussing this.

 

Saffa, I've lived overseas in UK, worked in Holland, Australia and USA for months at a time and I travel at least 3 times a year so I think I have some basis to compare.

 

I have had a couple of opportunities to move back to Europe over the years but I can honestly say that I'd much rather go to Australia or the States. Absolutely nothing against the Europeans but Australia has more of the attributes of in South Africa that I love.

 

But as other people have said whatever you do, don't look back. Make the best of it.
