Hi Guys

Sitting in a bit of a pickle with trying to choose between 2 second hand bikes.

I am 1,88 m tall and weigh about 92kg and have pretty long leg and torso(cant give inseam)

Both bikes are 9 speed. I cycle about twice a week and do Half Iron mans and argus basically

I have the following Options:

1. Scott 56 cm frame, 2014 model (various parts upgraded) - In all the sizing guides i have seen on the web,I just might get away with the frame size and might have to make some adjustments to stem ect (looks in good nick)

2. Scott 58cm frame, 2009 model - Better sizing but older model (need to inspect the condition of the bike)

Ultimately it will come down to feel but just though id throw it out there any advice will be appreciated

Cheers

Go for the 56cm rather.

I am 1.90 and I had a 58cm frame before my current 56cm, it was always slightly too long and had to be adjusted with a shorter stem which is not great for handling.

The other thing is if you are going to be doing IM type stuff then clip on aero bars are easier accommodated on a slightly shorter length top tube.

Just shows how important a bike fit is as everyone's dimensions are different. I'm 1.87 and need a 58 frame. A 56 feels like a clown bike for me.

Yup it depends on your measurements. OP mentioned long legs which means a shorter torso relative to height, very similar to me.

It also depends on the frame geometry so there is always more to it than just assuming one size is the correct one for you.

Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it.

Have a long torso as well (should have put that in as well)

Do you think one can get away with either bike and just doing an appropiate bike fit?

I'd go with the 58.

I'm 188cm (inseam 92cm) and ride a 58cm Cervelo S5 and it's a big frame . On a 56cm you going to be pushing the limits.

Drop me a line with the exact frames and I'll look in to geometry for you.

If you have long legs and a long torso that makes you nomally proportioned and tall. Unless you have a very flat head and no neck.

Aaaand he's back

You're tall enough that a tall one would probably be ok though.
