Jay_B Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Thanks! Stage 1 could be easy since the car can go on the R 40 and not get stuck behind / between the riders. Stage 2 and 3 might be easiest if they leave before the VA group (09:30 and 13:00) to not get stuck behind the Classic riders (but possibly still get stuck behind the Tour riders...)? My parents drove along for the race last year, stage 1 they went straight to White River had breakfast at wimpey and met me at the finish, stage 2 the groups get pretty thin in open seeded so they would drive ahead and stop at the top of climbs and wait for me to come past then move on. Stage 3 they had to get back to Nelspruit but saw a few people at top of Long tom and then not much along the stretch home. Its a nice race for spectators/family as with all the climbing the pace is slow and we dont just blitz past.

I am not doing it this year but last time I did and for kremetart I had arm warmers, Slightly warmer gloves and a wind breaker for the first stage. After that its pretty much summer kit. Prize giving gets chilly though.

Last year we got a sticker at registration to put on your helmet for marshals to identify but i think they try time it that the tour goes through the white river stop while we are still resting/lazing around in white river. I didnt see any tour riders last year
