Despite falling short of overall victory, Froome was in a celebratory mood Sunday.

“By far, this has been my best season,” Froome said. “The Tour was the main goal of the season, and to win for a third time was massive. And to back that up with a bronze medal at Rio was even better. To come here to finish second, and fight all the way to the end, I am very happy. Nairo was just better than me, and we have to congratulate him.”

I think we saw some really good racing this edition. And Bertie is not on the scrap heap just yet!

 

For me this was as enjoyable as the tour, if not more so. Maybe because my expectations are always so high for the Tour.

Everything about the Vuelta was just better than the TDF, the route, the fans, the press, the RACING (although this year's TDF was much better than previous additions)..there seems to be just a more love of the sport attitude than at the TDF.
