I've been sitting on a pair of Assos fi.13_s5 for the last 3 years covering 1000's of comfortable km's doing the the Transkaroo, 36One, Desert Dash even for training purposes, all with and smile with regards to bottom comfort. But I think they had there time, not as comfortable as it use to be. Now they tell me they have been discontinued!!!

The new kid on the block that has been recommended to me is the t.Cento_s7, apparently designed for ultra long distances, but it comes with and big price tag!

Is it worth the price tag?

Have anyone used it for long distances?(250km+/15-23 hours)

OR are there something else on the market that I've missed in the time that I've been using the s5?

The only reason i purchased assos was because of the price tag...being a fatty has it advantages...Left over stock in the shop...so they were unloading them for R1500...so i purchased 2 pairs...would i spend R3500 for the same bib...a good chance i am going to.

One thing i can say if anything their backup service is like no other...sent an email to their head office...i wasnt happy with the S5 high milage bib...2 weeks later a brand new pair of S7 were delivered.

I use first accent...fox and assos bibs...the bottom line you get what you pay...the chamois the fabric everything about the assos bib is far superior quality...can you justify the price...that would depend on you...would you rather pay R5000 for a hilti drill or R250 for a ryobi...they can both drill a hole in the wall at roughly the same speed...i am still using hilti machine on site which i purchased 25 years ago.

no matter what bib you wear for 250 km you a$$ is gona get sore.

I have the T equipe s7 and I never use it. Bought it in February this year and worn it about 4 times. It now just sits in my cupboard as a really really expensive ornament .

I just can never seem to get really comfortable with it,but I do think I also bought the wrong size . Am tall but skinny so went with a large for the height. Apparently this is supposed to be a compression bib and have a feeling that it just doesn't sit tight enough around my legs and backside. So coz the chamois is not fixed to the bib it moves around and I am forever trying to adjust the postion of the chamois. When it's in the right place I feel it could be an extremely comfortable fit.

So my only advice would be make sure you buy the right size .

I have the T Cento and struggle to get comfortable in it. They say it is designed for ultra long distance, but anything over about 80km and it starts to hurt. I have tried 3 different saddles, had 2 bike fits in the time but still don't have much joy in it.

I don't have any other expensive bibs to compare it to, only the Lassen brand and I find that they are just as comfortable as the very expensive T Cento.

Going to try out the Vermarc Relax next, at R1400 I think its cheap enough to try out, and there's tons of good reviews about them.

As an back-up I've bought also an T.equipe s7(size XLG) at last years Argus and find them ok, but could never get to the same comfort as the fi.13_s5. Anything below 100km(4-5hours) it's good but gets quite uncomfortable beyond that.

i generally don't ride more than 80-90km anyway. I have a Cannondale sugoi ( I think that's the name) bib which I bought at the argus in 2014 for R1600. I love that bib and wish I had bought more as can never find them. They are really brilliant .

I find them to be great but sizing can be tricky. Also, assos recommend that you put their chamois cream into the chamois and not your tender bits

REALLY?  Where does it say that?  On the bottle?
