Does anyone know where I can get rockshock 0w30 suspension fluid from
And also what's the best grease to use on a fork service?

Thanks

Is R300 labour the average for putting in 2 tokens on a RockShox Pike? Was told by LBS that warranty on fork & shock would be void if I do it myself.

On what basis would it be void? The tokens are user installable - take 1 minute in a hurry and 3 if you have a beer midway.

Thanks for the replies. Thought I'd smell bullsh#t! It's actually sad, cause it's a new bike, I'm a new customer and I still have a free first service with them. Don't think I will be going back then.

Why would people do this? This actually leaves a very sour taste now. Just when you think that there are some good shops out there, you get a new bike, you want to support the guys then this!?

Regarding the warranty void, was told that some other client fiddled with forks & shock and then stuffed it up. He is now unable to ride and can't afford a new shock. So I went with the "trust" in what was told to me & I didn't want to have these issues on my new bike.

I actually want to name this LBS. Aaarrrggghhhh!!!

I think you should tell us who's the shop is ?? They might think twice about bullshitting in future ! I get that it will take 5 min of there time , but it's not like they have to book theatre time at the local hospital to do it . 2ndly rock Shox promote the user changing tokens themselves . Add s token , hit the trails , come back add another, try it out , too many , come back take it out again ... damn that could get expensive with your lbs ... if that's the case , speak to trail tech and purchase a rad new Mrp ramp control for your pike . Then you can adjust on the fly :)

It starts with an and they are in Edenvale area:cursing:

Should have listened to you okes (Gravity Forum) and just took my bike to a

proper shop that knows this stuff. Expensive lesson learned....

I am still not comfortable with the RockShox suspension setup on my bike and think someone with more knowledge can fine tune it for me to make it feel awesome. New to this kind of suspension dialing thing.

I will be making a trip to them and ask for advice.

Thanks.

You tube.... and a bit of skill , you can fix and service most things on a bicycle ....

I know. But when you drop more than 30k on a bike at a dealer, you kind if expect some service / trust / relationship. Guess not. Welcome to the real world. ????????????????????????????????

If you are of average weight the standard number of tokens should be about right. Add if you are heavier or you ride hard. Adding or removing 2 tokens makes a very noticeable difference. In the Pike you can also mix the grey and red (smaller) tokens. My 150mm Pike was bought used and had 3 tokens in. I was running very low pressures and still only using 75% of the travel. Took 2 tokens out (leaving 1, as per factory setting) and it was a bit linear so I have ended up with 2.

Paying for any spare tokens that aren't supplied with the fork is fair enough but it is a user serviceable item and takes no more than 10 minutes working carefully so R300 is excessive and the advice that your warranty would be voided if you DIY it is a lie. I would actually ask for my money back. I wonder if they also charge for adjusting tyre pressure or seat height.
