But, was it a SPEZ ???

Since it's a mountain bike it must have been a guy on a Silverback Sesta with it's *best* vertically placed rear suspension shock that was doing that.

Not a word of a lie. Today I saw a guy on Cedar, full black kit, and I mean arm and leg warmers too, black shoes, black helmet... On a black MOUNTAIN BIKE!!!

Must admit, it looked damn good!

I tried a few times to turn around to take a pic for this thread, but there was just too much traffic!

Irony is a mothereffer!!

LOL!!!! I think i have just been owned!!!! Well done! :)

On twitter I saw a lot of people do not like roadies that jump into XCO racing at the Olympics and chill with the leaders until an unlucky puncture ends the spectacle. I could hear Nino's relief through the TV!

RANT ON

Who rides in black cycling gear, to match their matt black bike and black helmet, with no red or white light on their bike!

Yes, I know I'm opening myself up for a lot of abuse from the roadie community, but stop and think about it! While riding on the road, a place where you are the smallest vehicle, the path of least resistance, almost insignificant when it comes to other road users, the last thing you should be doing is dress like a Ninja!

It's funny, but the riders who dress in stealth also seem to be the ones who disobey the road rules, don't stop at red lights, ride two a breast and don't use hand signals.

The Muppet  I saw riding north on Cedarroad at 3pm today, was wearing a black Specialized top riding a matt black Specialized bike, jumped two traffic lights in 2km. When I hooted at him as he went through the second traffic light he didn't flinch, because he was also wearing headphones!

While I am ranting, I would also like to address the "what are the rules" ranters - who has right of way:

People playing touch rugby on William Nicol or the cars?

People playing soccer on Rivonia Drive or the taxis?

Or Formula 1 cars on Sandton drive or the traffic?

If you think about it in that context, sports cyclists, like the above mentioned sports should have no place on the road (even if they are wearing neon shirts and have lights on their bikes). Unless it's a closed road event like 947, Comrades Marathon, or Sandton Grand Prix.

Commuters get the idea... Make yourself as visible as possible, ride in single file, stop at red lights, always look out for cars (cause they don't look out for you).

You need to remember that if you're in an accident, it doesn't matter 'who was in the right', you will always come off second best.

YOU are the path of least resistance.

RANT OFF!

You edited your post once you got flamed, so I unedited it for you for the sake of science, see above.

Having said that, I thought that I would put my life on the line in an experiment to help prove your point of view.

Last week, I got dressed in full black, black shirt, black bib, black shoes, black socks, black helmet, black bottles(the tops) and black bike.

I went out in the morning when the light was similar to what it would have been at 3pm, just to set the baseline.

I went and rode around the busiest and most dangerous roads in JHB, William Nicol, Republic, JanSmuts, Main, Beyers etc, in traffic here is the Strava map.

For 80km and 3h30, I did what you paint as the most dangerous thing ever. I however did obey the road rules, so your statement that Ninja Clad Roadies are the same people who never obey the rules was also dispelled,

Having done that, I can catergorically state, that I was not killed in any way shape or form.

So in conclusion the only thing that we can deduce from this is that you should never rant before thinking again and that you deserve the what I present to you below!

Please note the bike type, so this is NOT a roadie thing.
