Bicycle Insurance

I have a broker thanks, was the main reason my claim got settled so fast.

It does not stop them trying their luck. Without the hub I would not have known to bring up the warranty issue and neither would my broker know that my frame had a lifetime warranty.

Maybe prey is a little harsh.

Maybe I am just in a bad mood because my road bike has been MIA for 3 weeks. I am being made to ride a giant...

Now I understand your bad mood

Wow, a bit of an eye opener with the insurance. I'm currently paying R533 + R85 (for upgraded wheels) on my Super6 valued at about R40K. Will trawl back through a see who is recommended as I need to get my Transition insured as well now.

I think they rely on the majority of bicycle owners being couch potatoes and paying a premium on a bike in the garage for 15 years without riding it.

They probably also prey on people that do not read policies and that do not stand their ground when it comes to claims

We just hear of a lot of claims as everyone on the hub is a cyclist and rides a fair amount, I know people at work with a R40K bike who pay their insurance every month and only do the Argus.

It's quite scary how many people actually just accepts repudiation or "un fair" settlements. Often when I see new clients and explain the cover and benefits to them, they go like; "But I've tried to claim for this or that and they didn't want to pay out".

especially the younger people just accept things to easily.

As Patch also rightly pointed out, people in general aren't properly informed due to the fact that they don't even read their schedules, let alone the policy wordings.

Totally agreed, but there is a difference between knowing your policy and not accepting an unfair settlement.

I would think I know a little more than the average boet about bikes and the hurdles I had to jump through with my insurance claim were a stretch.

First thing that has been replaced since crash.

They arrived to salvage my helmet and shoes at my house and asked for the bike.

They then got curious and asked if it was not "that bike" on my study wall. He was told to pick up a MTB :0 my wife was home at the time and just laughed.

Really on the ball.

You know it!

I was too scared about those old Hout Bay bats claiming they could not see me in my all black kit, they will have no excuse now when they run me over on the way to church with these silky slippers!

Who has signed with and/or claimed before from cyclesure or from hollard?

My broker feels that the lowest rate he can get me is at around 10%, and this is on an existing policy incl a bunch of all risk items.
