lurendrin Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Hi All, Did my intro at the introduction section I'm a complete beginner to cycling and am looking to get a MTB to start off with. I am 1.78m tall and am doing this to get into shape and have some fun on the off road trails. Might possibly just use it also as a road bicycle just to get the fitness in during the week. Budget at the moment is R3000 Any advice on the bike to look at?
lurendrin Posted September 12, 2016 Author Posted September 12, 2016 Also, i have come across this bike for sale. For an absolute beginner, is this ok?http://www.gumtree.co.za/a-sports-bicycles-fitness/fourways/cubixx-29er-large-frame-mountain-bike/1001769811060910202738109
scotty Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 I would try looking at the Hub's classified. At R3000 max your options are limited, bike below looks a decent buy https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/209975-merinda-matts-tfs100/
JXV Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 At 1.78m you are on the borderline between med and large frames so be sure to ride any bikes offered for sale before buying. You can fine tune size adjustments with stems, seatposts and bars but not make major adjustments with these. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

Just was not sure of the brand and what exactly to look out for. Is the Cubixx bike not a good brand?

JXV Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Ideally find someone who knows to go with you. Also look up the sizing chart on the web for the bike you intend buying. Most of the info for older models is available in Support / Help section of Manufacturer's websites. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

DanielFeeron Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Hi lurendrin, I have Northwood Aluminum. It's not expensive, so you can take a look at it. Moreover, I can easily find any parts for it. http://bestadviser.net/mountain-bikes/top-mountain-bikes-helmets-and-clothing-review/ You can find it in this top or probably to find something more suitable for U.
