Makes you wonder whether it was the ditching of the saddle bag that got them into A....????

Putting a saddle bag on a carbon race machine is like putting a canvas camping tent on the roof of an aston Martin ????????????

I guess the question will be: how do you wean yourself off of the big bag?

Day 1-30: Use whatever setup you'd like in training (except a Camelback - gasp)

Day 31: Identify everything you didn't use in a month. Ditch them.

Day 61: Identify everything you could have called your wife for. Ditch them. Move what remains to your jersey pockets. Shave your legs. Colour match your clothing and bike.

Racing or training, I ride only with:

- Spare tube

- Bomb & adapter

- Levers x 3

- Phone

- Credit card or R100 cash

When I go out on a new bike (or one with changed handlebars/seat post/stem), or I'm on new shoes/pedals, I take a multi tool (super compact) for the first couple of rides. Still fits in the pockets...

Had a good couple of chuckles reading wiss fred  it's ALL true I tell ya...

- Put the stuff (multi-tool, tube, etc.) that you don't need readily available while riding in the CENTRE POCKET.

- Depending on which side (left, or right) is easier for you to reach (to the back) while riding...put your stuff you want to eat (Energy gel, Energy bar, etc.) in that most important pocket.

- Put the other stuff you "might" need during the race in the last (empty) pocket.

If this does not work...then do what you fell like doing

Hi guys!

I am new on the forum, although I have been lurking for a while. Call me a bike hub stalker if you want :). I'm an avid mountain biker but recently decided to start participating in triathlons so needed to get a road bike. The biggest challenge I face is getting my gear packed as I've grown accustomed to packing everything but the kitchen sink in my Camelbak.

So the question is this- are backpacks/bladders allowed in road races and/or multisport events? I don't mind being the odd one out, but have honestly not seen anybody use it. Or is there any reason why it's better not used. The idea of a dozen little compartments and two bottles on the rack really does not appeal.

Anybody?

Its gets sweaty and gross...

You use a picture of a bike with no wheels to justify a bikemoonbag? Nee man ;)

That's like saying if Lance can dope you can too. If it's good enough for lance...:-) Just because someone well-known or famous does something wrong doesn't make it right
