With Yates out, and Kroswick nowhere, I don't know who to support. Tommy is too main stream. Nibali too cheaty (came back strong after a rest day again... ahem) Nairo, well I made my bed there, Zakarin hasn't had good luck and probably won't have, don't like Geeeee's glasses, Mollema... meh, Pozzovivo has brown pants....

Suppose that leaves me shouting for Bobby and Pino (my favorite red)

I see it as the same as a streaker interrupting a tennis match or cricket or rugby. Or a train in Paris-Roubais. An outside influence not seen as a natural event like weather, should be neutralised by the commissaires, not by the players.

But the problem with that is they need to police the crowds far more to reduce the risk of dickheadery.

Hmm I dunno if the commissaries would be able to do that for this kind of incident, it's more of a "honesty amongst riders thing"

Maybe it's because there is no "main dude" in the peloton who has the chutzpah to initiate it?

valid point.

but what if GT had a busted clavicle? Wait till it's healed? How would they let leaders know to push on? Radio? What if that's not working 100s?

Tough situation, with no real answer, hence the debate

Joh that's a lot of if's

Watch out for Hermans, Costa, Landa or Thomas today.

Reduced to Stagiaires. Who would have thought.

Only the peloton will not let GeeWhizMan get into a break as 4 or 5 minutes is too little.

Landa on the other hand. What a disappointment he has been since he left Vino. But I guess he's been happy to pocket the increased salary without the risk of a ARV.

Neutralising a race is just bollocks. All started with Luigi deciding he was all powerful in the rain then the TDF race commissaire switched off the race with the massive crash on the grounds that there were not enough ambulances. Fair enough for a safety reason.

Then, after the event, Brailsford and his rider went to the race jury and persuaded them to neutralise the race on Ventoux. Some told at the time said it was the wrong decision. And now we see the call almost every time a rider we like falls.

Now, on the Blockhuas a rider hits a STATIONARY police moto, a few riders fall, and the race should be neutralised.  Please.

It's part of racing. They are professionals who make their living from wining bike races, if someone falls that's just bad luck.  We don't need more interference in races by referees. The beauty of bike racing is that the winner is the person who crosses the line first. With no interpretation needed by an umpire or referee.
