You can never instill a good habit too early or too young - even I - who for many reasons DOES know better - occasionally slips up - especially with kids - and a gentle reminder is never a bad thing :)

The posed photos didn't really concern me too much - the last one really instigated the request - perhaps I am over sensitive this month after dealing with 2 kids not belted in during a partial head on.

i fully agree with you you can never be safe. My daughter got ants in her pants and she fell of while standing stationery. So even that is dangerous. They go jorse riding with mommy and have both got helmets. I will put it on in future until i can get them bike helmets

I have been researching upgrades. It currently has acera shifters and alivio front deraliuer. Deoro shifters and front deraliuer is only 1600. Will it be a good upgrade

Do not upgrade yet. You will soon find that you might need a second bib and shirt. Spend the money on decent kit amd it would bring more pleasure than a small upgrade.

Also, try not to overspend on your current bike. Rather safe up and buy a better specced bike if you outgrow this one.

Enjoy your bike, you just reminded me how passionate I was a few years back.

Decided to try out the single track on the plot where i stay created by the cows. I was a bit windgat and greated a thorn bush c51487c6155ed9e1c1ae6d09871aea26.jpg3eafe8fe44a8345e4dae2572a450eb76.jpg4f44a320c590a6221a46021705d7a66a.jpg but got fixed quick.d85ec9a365776511e2a51e49593f78d0.jpg. Then when i teied to pump the wheel i noticed my normal tyre pump didn't fit.

Time to run those maxxis tubeless- otherwise you will spend a lot of time fixing punctures.

Best upgrade you will ever do. PS- if those tubes have removable valves you can put sealant in the tube as a short term thing - but full tubeless is the way to go.

Those sealant type tubes are not the best way to prevent punctures. Tubeless is the best way but costs a lot in the beginning especially if you dont have UST( Universal Tubeless Tyres) tyres. Once they are on though you will have no more problems, just keep them topped up with sealant .

For now try putting some tyre liners in your tyre, they are cheap. It is a rubber strip that goes in the tyre to give extra layer of protection between the tube and the tyre, You seem like a resourceful type and could probable make some out of something

Saddles don't always fit every person properly and sometimes you need to try a few before finding one that suits you but before trying new saddles you need to just spend time in the saddle you have and get some decent padded shorts. After a few months if not coming right, only then should you consider looking for a new saddle.

i actually noticed that if i sit about 2" back on the saddle it hurts less. Will have mention that when i do fitment later this week. Thanks for the info

Baie welkom Theunis   beste keuse ooit om weer op die fiets te klim.

Jip...go tjoepless as soon as possible...in the meantime enjoy repairing the tjoeps

Enjoy the time also spent with the kids in this way...one day they will do the races with you (even Sani2C and Berg&bush as team partners)...

Cycling is a way of life and to get kids and family to enjoy it with you is even MORE fun than doing it alone...some days you might even go and camp at places that HAVE CYCLING trails, and races for you and the kids (Sondela comes to mind - they even have a 3 stage race first weekend in December...and also every day races and fun for the kids and family

Geniet dit ou maat...dit word net makliker hoe meer jy oefen...sterkte.

You can move the saddle back or forwards about 5cm on its rails. You can also tilt it up or down. My rule of thumb is to aim the nose of the saddle at the top of my steerer tube then fine tune from there but we all have different bodies so this might not work for you.

If it points too far up it will hurt your ...... and if too far down you slide forwards while riding. There should be a happy setting somewhere in between.

If you going for a bike fit that will sort out lots of the issues.

Your post about your sore backside made me laugh. It made me remember my first 10km ride on my bike, thought I was going to die it was so sore....don't stress, it's not permanent, time in the saddle gets rid of it quickly. Unfortunately no fix other than a little bit of time. Enjoy your bike and congrats.
