Well, after a HUGE December training month I have now come down with serious flu which is a bastard to shake. So no training for the last 3 days but I guess the silver lining is that I needed the rest anyway. Just hope to shake it off sharp sharp. December was by far the largest training month ever for me.

12 weekends left until Ironman, my events leading up to PE are:

1. 8 Jan - Kudos 15 km run (on condition I shake this flu)

2. 15 Jan Dischem 21 km run

3. 21 Jan - 5 km Heia swim

4. 29 Jan - Johnson crane hire marathon

5. 12 Feb - Midmar mile. Not 100% sure of this one as yet to be honest.

6. 5 march - Durban ultra

then will do a cycle race at some point just lots of training really. While I don't realistically think I will be faster in 2017 than 2016 it would be nice to make some gains. my motto for IM PE 2017 is comfort...I want to be as damn comfortable as possible for the entire event :)

Got all my bits an bobs ready for PE, hotel booked an paid for etc so now its just focus on training time.

Average December training, focused more on pacing on bike and run.  Did more running than usual. Now into my 12 week training plan which will hopefully have me strong and ready for PE

As for lead up events:

1. 15 Jan - Dischem 21km

2. 29 Jan - EL 70.3

3. 12 Feb - Midmar

4. 5 March - Durban Ultra (still deciding)

5. 18 March - Om Die Dam 21km

Just got to organise the bike transport closer to the time else all ready :)

I have had a good training block over December. I haven't put on any weight which is a first. I'm a bit short on events building up to PE. Apart from a select few MTB marathons, I'll be doing;

1. ITU Cape Town

2. Sanlam Cape Mile

3: Grabouw Xterra.

I might try and put in a run event too but not being a runner I don't know of many in the Cape. I'm loving the build up to this.

Pretty good December for me training wise.

No events entered so far between now and PE. Might do Buffelspoort ultra on 19 Feb, but havent made my mind up yet.

Not sure if its worth doing a half from a training point of view.

It'll be my first full so pretty nervous already

I reckon you will be fine. Nerves are there no matter how many times you start n IM as nothing is guaranteed but you should be fine. Pace cleverly and go.

15 Jan - Trinity Triathlon in Germiston

21 Jan - 3 km Heia swim

29 Jan - 70.3 EL

12 Feb - PnP 21km

Not a 100% sure of the Heia swim, I picked up a stomach-bug there in December with my last open water swim.

Never had an issue at Heia, with the recent rains I would think the water would be clean too. I believe it is billed as the cleanest water in Gauteng currently.

Missed the Kudos run due to flu, just getting over it so taking it easy, will put the hammer down once I feel 100%. Going from 13 to 15 hour weeks to a 2 hour week is incredibly depressing but nothing else for it and I guess the downtime will do my body and mind good.

11 weekends left, effectively 10 for training and the 11th for tapering. of those 11 I have 2 where I will be out of action completely due to other factors so only 9 weekend left for me. 82 days til IM ...**** that's nerve racking

how far is gym from you though

ooops, sorry missed this question. Its around 3.5 km's from my house to the gym. I generally take a slightly longer route to run to gym so the run is longer than 30minutes for Discovery points purposes :) ...
