Eugene Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 I have had one for a number of years and it was a really good purchase. I don't use it on my bike and learnt a lesson when it removed the paint from my bakkie. It is brilliant for cleaning garden furniture, paving, walls drains etc. I also use it gently on the non paint areas of my car.
Messier87 Posted November 23, 2016 Author Posted November 23, 2016 Thanks for all the opinions. I think the one-sided affair above says a lot. It is a no for the takealot daily deal then...
DJR Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Thanks for all the opinions. I think the one-sided affair above says a lot. It is a no for the takealot daily deal then...I think they are great machines for stripping flaking paint off a wall before repainting, cleaning oil spills off paving and cleaning moss and algae off garden furniture. But I won't let one near my bikes.
Henryfeather Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Stay away from keen greenThere is acetone in it Just sunlight and a paintbrush then gently hose down with no pressure and avoid sensitive areas Chain use diesel/pArAfine or press oldThe working areas must not be squeaky clean.Wax your frame And polish your tyresYou ride it for hours a week spend 30 minutes cleaning it
rudi-h Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 do it... just avoid spraying straight into seals, bearings, brakes, hubs, bb, headset, suspension pivots, shock and fork stanchions... i.e. only use it on the tubes, rims/tyres and drivetrain. it's great for cleaning chains, chainrings and derailleurs, however be careful. I used one for years and didn't experience any of the damage that I was warned against... only reason i don't use it anymore is because i don't have a power outlet close enough to the hosepipe where I live now.
Mr lee Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 With the current water restrictions going on I have swapped out the hose and spray nozzle attachment for a 5L garden sprayer thingy... ...the one you use to spray insecticide on your plants etc. It has a plunger to build up pressure and you can adjust the nozzle to a fine mist or fine spray. It has less pressure than the hose with spray nozzle but is more than enough to clean a muddy bike. On average I use around 4L per bike which is way less than with a hose! So after the bike receives a nice sprayed dose of diluted bike wash/cleaner, it gets sprayed down and not hosed down I also use a very soft long bristled hand brush to scrub those stubborn bits off, especially on the tires. Obviously I flushed the container out a few times before using it on my bike .
