Carbon 29er Wheelset - How wide?

Yes, 100% agree I am not getting the most out of them. But I want to go 29er for the new wheels. So... first upgrade is the wide 29er wheelset, and then eventually a wide i45 for the 27.5 plus wheelset. For now the 29mm will have to do for the 27.5+ (I don't know why Specialized specs it with such narrow rims for a plus tyre!).

If I was planning on going 27.5 on the skinnier tyres I would've done exactly what you both suggested....

My Spez Fuse came with the i45's?

Its all about costing them..

I get nice rims, shitty hubs and crappy shifters.. you probably got decent hubs, smaller rims and better components...

Spot-on!

I just did a quick search though, even the S-Works Stumpy 6Fatties comes with 30mm internal width rims. Blows my mind that one...

So why go carbon then? The money you save with alloy rims can go towards a new 27.5+ wheels. Best of both worlds.

Yeah, guess I will have to. Just means that 2 minute swop becomes a bit longer, having to break the chain and put the other one on every time I wanna do a swap...

EDIT: Might as well save some money and transfer the cassette from one wheel to the other instead.

Your chain should come with a quick link, so no chain breaking needed to swap chains either.

So get a new cassette and chain.

Regarding disc rotors - do they always line up with the brake pads between wheel changes? I.e. no disc-pad rubbing.

I'm not set on carbon... so your suggestion might actually be worth looking into!

With the disc rotors - I am not sure if it will line up. Seems like there might be quite a few issues which make a quick swop of wheel-set not so possible.

Also asking, as I liked the 29er stumpy quite a bit, but could only find a good deal on the 6fattie. So went through the whole thought process.

Well besides for this whole wheel conundrum I have, I love the bike, absolutely amazing to say the least...

Well this sucks....

I thought I'd call around to see what deal I could find on i45 27.5 hoops on my current hubs. Turns out my bike came out with 24/28hole hubs.

Anyone know of brands that do rims of internal width 45mm, in 24 and 28hole?

I can't find any in 28h... only 32. Do you maybe have a link?

Yes, they are boost spaced.

Thats really odd, the standard ones on the fuse a i45 28 hole.

What hubs are on your stumpy?
