Garmin 520 recording issue

Mate of mine is struggling wtih his 520 at the moment, thing keeps freezing during an activity. He has to hold the power button down for 10 seconds to reboot. Very annoying.

 

Anyone else have the same experience? 

 

Had a similar issue - hard reset solved it

 

Then recently noticed often the unit won't charge - just warms up in the charger without charging the battery.

 

Then lastly the backlight stopped working..

 

Thought the unit would still be under warranty but as it was a replacement for my Garmin 500 it only had a useless 90 day warranty - not mightily impressed with Garmin right now..
