Chainline - does this seem legit?

I should add that I have been riding 1x for two years now, first 1x9 and then 1x10. I have always used the normal triple crank that came with the bike however my current bike, a 2014 Sola 1, came with a SLX double.

Having tried a triple Deore crank on it with a 34t in the middle did not help much which I why I put my hopes on this single crank. Not too fond of the spacer idea though. The only time I ever dropped the chain was with a Rapide NW. Never with any other rings.

About the hosepipe, I have broken many a neoprene chain slap and inner tube does not last as the hosepipe. It really is the Gillette of chain stay protection - the best a man can get.

68mm so I am using one spacer on each side. Rode it a few times and seems to be good, I don't need the biggest gear that much on my commute, will see well it works when I hit more serious trails this weekend.

The bb spacers should be 2.5mm. Moving the drive side spacer to non drive side will bring your chainline in by 2.5mm and should make an improvement. You will not notice the slight offset of the crank while riding.

Nevermind the chainline for a moment, where is spacer no.3?  Doubt that you will damage threads or anything but there are usually 3....

...but some mechanics on teh interwebs caution against adding too many (more than 1) on the non-drive side, as you may reduce the contact patch on the threads, possible causing damage to the frame's BB shell.

Shimano comes with three BB spacers, SRAM comes with two. I am not at all fond of having the pedals offset to the one side. If I do change the chain line the only option will be spacers on the chain ring bolts.
