Seasons greetings to all.

I would like to touch on what I consider service excellence and going the extra mile.

During this mornings ride I had an unfortunate incident and damaged both wheels on my trusty steed. Front was not bad at all but rear had 4 broken spokes. Now as some might know I am currently on the recovery route after an incident that has put me out of action for many months, part of my rehab is cycling. So the dilemma was without wheels what to do(on boxing day)

Enter George from mean machines. One phone call and he was more than happy to take a look and see what he can do for me. I arrived at his shop at approximately 10h30. He took a look at the wheels and to my shock the rear had a 5 mm ovality and 4 mm warp. The front was not bad at all. After some chit chat between us the front wheel was true and done while I waited. I left his shop at around 11h30 leaving the rear wheel there for him to take his time. 13h15 I received a call saying rear is done and within all specs.

Thank you George for your fantastic work on my wheelset and allowing me to continue with my physical rehabilitation.

I highly recommend Mean Machines for wheel building and truing. George also offers a tune up service to all his wheel builds and you are more than welcome to take them back for any truing under his warranty.

Germiston CBD, Oosthuizen street.

He''s been around for ages and is always willing to go the extra mile. First time I went to him was a wheel rebuild as I kept snapping spokes. Although this was the first time he had met me, he offered to lend me a set of wheels while he worked on mine.

Bought my first proper bike from George in 1994. Top chap. So glad they're still going strong

Also got my first bike from George in 1987 /88

Incredibly knowledgeable guy... he once straightened a MTB frame for me after I accidentally drove into it while it was leaning against the wall in my garage.

Back in those days he built many wheels for the top riders or guys who had a habit of bending their wheels.

Good to hear he is still carrying on his good work.

Good to hear that shop is still around. My current trainer bike, a Hanson Reynolds 708 with 8 speed chorus was built up at Mean Machines in 92. Still going strong, with all original components.

Wow. I didn't know that Mean Machines is still around ! I met George when he opened Mean Machines. I think it was around 1980. He is a fantastic guy. I was in High School and serious into my cycling but cash was short ! George would let me help around the shop and so I worked for components to upgrade my bike. I remember George to always please his customers and he supplied excellent service. He always helped everyone where he could.

I left Germiston in the late 1980's and also stopped cycling only to rekindle my love for riding in 2012 again. All the best to you and your family George. Thank you for the help all those years ago and it's awesome to know that you are still providing the same 110% service !

Fond memories. Kindest Regards, Johnny Nel

Some feedback on work done by George. 110km later and from the first ride there was not as much as even a ping from the spokes. Tyres aired up tubeless with a hand pump no issues at all and wheelset is as true as can be. What a pleasure.
