OBicycleTouring Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Hello everyone, I am 'new' to taking Mtb biking seriously and I just purchased a Lapierre XL 729 Frame. I wish to build it up to a sweet well specified bike starting With the Cannondale Lefty. All advice is highly welcome. Thanks for reading.
Kalahari Vegmot Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Sweeeeeeeeeeeet! That is going to be awesome! The lefty idea is cool, just make sure you get all the right adaptors. I don't know whether you've given the groupset much thought yet, but you can check out Box's newly launched PushPush shifter and rear derailleur. You can also pair the shifter to an XT or XTR rear mech if it's too expensive(175usd) Maybe with a Lyne 1x11 crankset and dropper? Don't know how much you want to spend, but the above mentioned should make for a pretty damn nice build:-)
OBicycleTouring Posted December 27, 2016 Author Posted December 27, 2016 Sorry guys I will post some original photos once it arrives by Friday or Tuesday next week. Its the same as was reviewed by the Bike Hub early this year. Here is the link to that article. https://www.bikehub.co.za/features/_/gear/reviews/review-lapierre-xr-729-r4904

That push push sounds cool, any links
OBicycleTouring Posted December 27, 2016 Author Posted December 27, 2016 Hey, mr, or should I say miss Google showed me the push push rig, it does look cool. But not mind blowing for me as the SRAM EAGLE XX1 did the first time I saw it.
OBicycleTouring Posted December 27, 2016 Author Posted December 27, 2016 Please post some picturesSorry Petri707, 'will d; Frame is arriving by Friday 29th or by Tuesday next week unfortunately.
Kalahari Vegmot Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Cool, It's not mind blowing but more innovative at least than what SRAM and Shimano have done for the past decade. And the ability to rebuild the shifter, at least for me, is a big plus, and neither of the two S's offer this. I don't have anything against Eagle or anything, but I'm fine with the idea of 36x 11-42, and those cassettes are mind boggling expensive... I personally love the way the bike looks, and think that the Lefty is foing to make for a really sick look...A lot of Hubbers did not like the look at all though... Not that it matters Also, there's a thread on the Box shifter and R/D, just search All the best, and I'm looking forward to seeing this build completed:-)
PhilipV Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 To build a lefty onto a normal frame a adapter kit is required. You might need to hunt around for one. Lefty's are cool, enjoy it.

nickc Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 I found one (kit) but the price is a bit steep. It will be worth it, the Lefty not only will look cool but gives one smooth ride !!!
seven Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Those adaptors are about 2000; when you then include the cost of the lefty and stem, it becomes very expensive
OBicycleTouring Posted December 30, 2016 Author Posted December 30, 2016 lefty's are for cannondales. (only)Not entirely true, the later models work with special Cannondale made adapters for 'normal' frames.

FCH Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Think he was talking in principle, rather than actual. Not entirely true, the later models work with special Cannondale made adapters for 'normal' frames.
