MphatiPyga Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Hoping someone can help, want to put better maps on my 520 and was directed towards Openstreetmaps. I have tried to follow the instructions from DC Rainmaker amongst others but get stuck at the Openstreet website, just does not want to get to selecting map area at all? Perhaps the site is down or discontinued. Does anyone have advice or perhaps even the map file for South Africa that they can forward to me?

seven Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 2 possible issues I've had before:BrowserTrying to select a map that was too large, so the fileset gets truncated, and cannot be used Dis you change the settings to 'manual select area'?

Cippo Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 Choose file on Open street according to your country, city or click on manual selection and then choose your area acvording to tiles on map. When you have entered your email and complete they will send you an email to confirm request. 2nd email will have your download in 3 diiferent map versions. Download the version for your operating system. Connect Garmin, go to Garmin folder in your finder and then copy and save your gmap folder that contains your original mapping. Save it somewhere. Now delete the file in Garmin folder and then delete in trash as well to make space available in built in SD card. Now move new OS map to your Garmin storage. You have to rename the file to what DC tells you. The Garmin will automatically sync and will load next time you switch on. When you open Navigation the map will come up.
