Am I the only one that thinks this is a bit.... ja well I can't pick the right word.

Ladies would gooi a vloermoer if a man would suggest a group ride - where ladies weren't allowed. He HAS to be sexist, obviously?

And the notion that men don't have patience with the women, maybe the kind of men you ride with need to be re-evaluated. As a guy, in all the group rides I do the ladies are always looked after. If one drops off, one or more guys would drop off as well to ride with her.

Dunno, maybe I am missing the point, in that case humble apologies.

well last year our club had a regular ladies ride and it was mainly to get all the guys who cycles, wife's into it, and the wife's did not want to cycle with the men and did not want to cycle fast and far. a man has more patience with another man's wife on the bike from my experience. everyone's cycling needs are different depending what they are training for and it is unfair to ask a guy training for 36one or transbaviaans to bring down his pace or distance just to accommodate us girls. we will only have a ride once a month or so anyway because some ladies in our group also trains hard for races. and some woman just wan to chill for 10km. it is very difficult to keep everyone happy and each clubs has its own thing that works. we will see how this one works,

just on a last note, the club i cycle with are mixed. men and ladies. and i enjoy sometimes to cycle with them because i do push myself harder. but our night rides are damn fast and then we ladies get left behind.

p.s sorry for the looooooong reply.

i think i'll change the topic to girls/newbies group rides, to avoid negativity. ;)

Understood.

One last question though... and this is super serious.

If its a ladies only ride... who's gonna fix the punctures?

Nice idea for a beginner MTB group ride,  whether its male, female or mixed doesn't really matter to me.

What trails were you thinking of?

buffelsdrift is our favourite as it caters for all levels. and sometimes we ride from tia's flowers in zambesi to the park and back. a flat easy 36 km. or we still leave from tia's flowers but go to the railway tracks also a very easy flat 40km route no technical sections

Hey Ckk i'm in Joburg but I'd be keen to find some less proficient riders to go to Buffelsdrift with. My OH and I've ridden Buffelsdrift together once  - and not again :D

When are you going this weekend? I ride on my own every second week - so if one of your Buffelsdrift rides falls on that weekend, I'll be sure to join you.

I don't particularly like ladies only groups TBH, I joined one a while back but only ended up doing 2 rides with them then I left. Now the group that I ride with occasionally - have to agree that the guys are awesome - they might chirp but they have your back (but i'm an anti-social rider - I like me time)
