Hilton. Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 I had gen 1 Stages on an XT crank. The only issue is the battery cover is quite weak, and subject to breakage. I'm on gen 2 now, under warranty replacement of my gen 1, due to that exact fault. It might not happen to you, but worth being aware of. Otherwise, a great well-priced power meter
SupiV Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 HII had the Stages X9 Gen1. Mine ate batteries. One a week. Later on the battery cover broke. They replaced it with a Gen2 under warranty. Battery now last for at least 200h. Very happy with the product.

If the unit is not faulty at this stage, it won't be.My honest opinion. Make a calc to what a Gen2 will cost and if it is worth it, save up.
