How do you pick and buy new shoes

I love Sidi shoes. They have however become really expensive.

Any opinions on Garneau MTB shoes?

They look very nice.

I have a pair of Garneau. I find them comfortable and plenty ventilation , however in winter you'll need toe covers

Sorry to pull up an old post.

Have you found a pair yet ? I am looking for something new, popped into CL and they have the Sidi mega on clearance. The fit is good and there is enough space in front, but the closure system is putting me off.

The new Shimano RC9 fits great, a precise fit with the dual boa. But at R6k + I am not soo eager to spend my money on them.

There wasn't anything else with a wide fit.

I went around and fit a whole bunch of shoes, ended up with the Sidi Shot.

They fit amazing, even with my slightly wider forefoot. I just put in a pair of memory foam innersoles as well.

Got a great deal and paid R6500 for the shoes, cleats, innersoles and socks and cleat setup.

The most important part is just to go and fit them all, fit them again and if you're not 101% sure about them don't buy. Bad fitting - Good looking shoes are not going to make you faster

To answer your question simply. Comfort, looks, then price. Oh and longevity. I hardly ride enough to buy myself a pair every year and at the price of most shoes these days, I'm not mad either. Happy hunting. I have the Giros btw, light as a feather and looks fast. Wish it came with legs though!!!

Red shoes are faster

Yes... but the bright green ones looks faster. BUT it must match your bike, helmet and shirt.
