Shock absorbing brake hoods

I just double wrap the bars instead of using any fancy gels. I found they tend to twist out of position under the tape as you use the bike after wrapping.

As for hoods, I not added anything under the hoods. There are normally little placement rubber bits that fit into holes in the sti, so no go from there. That g shock stuff could work, but if you're gripping the hoods that tightly, rather loosen the grip. But i only say that cause I've never wanted softer hoods, but definitely thicker drops and cushier tops. And double wrapping works great for that.

Haven't seen a need

And seldom use gloves

Remember to not grab the bars

Have a loose and relaxed grip

Let the bars dance under your grip a little bit ????

Maybe it is just my lack of fitness causing me to grip the hoods to tight. Just to mention, I do 95% of my riding on the hoods so only 5% on the parts covered by bar tape

I remember getting some gel inserts with my Sram Red shifters, so this isn't anything new.

May also not be to everybody's fancy.

A good quality bar tape, wrapped well will probably be just as effective.

Also, some shifter hoods are just naturally uncomfortable.

I also spend most of my rides with my hands on the hoods.  Always use gloves - In case I fall and not for comfort!  Your position on the bike will determine the weight your hands have to support so a good set up is important - I would think more so than cushioning.
