bertusras Posted March 6, 2017 Share Morning all, Can anyone point me to a shop in Pretoria that can sell me a Hollowtech II BB Tool in Pretoria that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I've been to CycleLab in Lynnwood, Hot Spot Cycles and Sportsmans Warehouse. The Bicycle Company in Lynnwood has a Parktool BBT19.2 at a shocking R440. Alternatively, does someone have one that I can borrow (rent) for a day - compensation in the form of cupcakes or beer is available. This is what I'm looking for: http://i.imgur.com/tNKFchP.jpg http://i.imgur.com/G8k5Cri.jpg http://i.imgur.com/V5mYQ68.jpg http://i.imgur.com/2f7SgeG.jpg

R440 may sound expensive, but (1) it's a Park Tool - it will out last you and your bikes.IMO, it's worth every cent. There should be alternative makes around... BBB springs to mind. divernick Posted March 6, 2017 Share What a rip off. It's R240 on CRC: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/za/en/park-tool-bottom-bracket-tool-hollowtech-ii/rp-prod4062 Now order a couple of BB's and the tool online and you're set. And you'll have it by Friday if you order now.
Fast-er Posted March 6, 2017 Share I had the same issue. Those things are almost impossible to find. I took my bike to Epic Sports in Centurion. They took it my BB off for me. I serviced it and went back the next day for them to put it back on. They didn't charge me a for anything. Maybe a option if you don't want to buy one

WIPEOUT 1000 Posted March 6, 2017 Share I own the park tool and it's not great. The surface and diameter of the plastic disk makes it difficult to grip and apply sufficient tourgue. I think the ICE tool would work better.

Rocket-Boy Posted March 6, 2017 Share I have the ice tools one, it came as part of a kit that in total cost less than the parktool one.I doubt it will ever let me down but there is something sexy about tool from parktool. I use it probably 4 times a year though so not enough reason to buy a better one.
Spinnekop Posted March 6, 2017 Share I am in Faerie Glen if you want to borrow. If you are going to buy one, buy the socket type one. Does less damage
bertusras Posted March 6, 2017 Share BaGearA hooked me up with a loan, which will suffice for my task at hand. I needed one before Wednesday, so will still order one from somewhere eventually. Thanks for all the offers and advice!!
