You can also get hold of fellow hubber Bibi. He owns Zion Bikes. Awsome bikes ! Just remember to take some "strong stuff" before opening the quote !

my bikes seem to be be pretty evil, one is aptly named El-Diablo since my shins have very little unscarred meat left because of it, and I'm still in a sling since the other one left me with a broken clavicle. Welcome to make me an offer on either :) Probably not "good" prices though...

Locally definitely not. A bike specced with sram NX/revelation for R70-80k is certainly not cheap or good value.

Compared to Spez (seeing as everyone likes to compare it to - coz they're soooo overpriced etc), Evil bikes are much cheaper in the US. Not so much here.

R48k for The Calling frameset. I've been following their builds for a few months now and it seems like most people kit these out with top shelf components to go with the frame. So, you can probably expect to pay R80-120k for a new build. Nothing stopping you sourcing cheap components off the hub though.

These bikes aint cheap...

Can buy lots of machines just as good or better for that price.

Give me some ideas, looking for a mid travel mtb bike, I looked at YETI, EVIL ( just love the look ) Spez Enduro and YT( not bad pricing if bought direct from them)

What's your actual budget? Are you looking to buy new? Your list already looks good, but I'd add Transition and Santa Cruz to it as it looks like you're after something a bit more special.

+1 on the Santa.

Also recently bought a new bike.

I looked at:

Evil the following, liked the reviews, videos, etc but read bad things about their after-sales support (not local - but from Evil inc.) and the longevity of their paintwork , and at that price wasn't keen on the risk. Also the rear suspension mechanics look like a bit of a dirt trap.

Spez Camber :

Great bike, great reviews,  but spez's parts spec in comparison with similar priced boutique bikes was always substandard, i.e less bang for buck.

YT Jeffsy looked great but what put me off was boost rear and non boost front. The Non symmetricality bugged me (my inner german)  ,other than that it looked like a brilliant bike with great components for the price.

Final choice ended up being between Santa Hightower, Yeti SB5c and a Pyga stage max.

All the listed bikes had similar geometry, fantastic reviews and where all dead sexy.

Ended up going with the Santa

The ability to flip between 29er and 27.5 inch wheels (2bikes for 1) , lifetime warranty on frame and bearings and the fact that I got a brilliant deal and a trade in from my Santa dealer cemented the choice.

Still look at the Evil, Pyga and Yeti with lust though.

N+1 right ?

I have a Following and cleaning that rear linkage is a nightmare!

I had an unfortunate experience with Evil's after-sales service which ended up costing me way more than it should have. Trailtech are great though.

My paintwork is still fine, except where the paint is missing from the seat-tube. It looks like tyre rub, but if the tyre has contacted the frame during full compression that sounds to me like a design flaw. No idea how else it would have happened though.

I absolutely love the bike and all the Evil's, but they are definitely not the greatest value for money bikes around. Something like a Giant Reign/Trance or Spaz Enduro/Stumpy has it beat here. There's been some amazing deals in the classifieds over the last few months on these higher end trail/enduro bikes.

Right here we GOOO,

Transition Scout

Banshee Spitfire(own one and its awesome as hell but looks not to everyone's taste)

Lapierre Zesty

Knolly Endorphin

Kona Process 134

Spez Stumpy

Santa Cruz Hightower

Giant Trance

Another question you need to answer is do you want a Alu bike or plastic and then the biggie is price?
