Come Rouxenator - This will be different - even if it's windy they won't cancel because the field is smaller and fewer okes who can barely balance on their bikes. I must say that was one thing in the run up to Argus - feeling really superior to all the okes struggling to clip in and clearly having trouble balancing let alone pedalling.

After Sunday the whole tarmac thing became to high risk for me.

My thoughts exactly - Looking forward to the downhill into Riekeeck Kasteel though!

It's going to be an awesome race.  Check out a video clip of the route on the Breede MTB Facebook page.

You're right, we won't cancel :-) YR is predicting a 2 m/s Southernly - just a breeze, picking up towards the evening - let's hope it stays that way.

How far into the course is that 09:30 cut off - looks like it's at about 20k?

The cut off for all races is 13:00.  Courses available tomorrow is the 18km, 30km and 60km.  Hope to see you there!

Jislaaik that was tough. Agony and ecstacy. Proper mountain biking - technical climbs, very nice descents and a ghastly hill that I had to walk at about 42 - I could have done without that.

So much sand which just sucked up any momentum, there was only one free kilometer the whole way and that was a tar downhill and that's bad news for Mamils like me because I rely on the free kilometers to recover and gather myself. Parts of the sand had been covered with thatch which made it easier and other parts with grape stalks I think they were which were also easier but still seemed to suck the wheels into the ground.

The course demanded concentration the whole way - except for the last 4k of farm road which was mercifully flat and with mind and legs both numb but somehow happy I crossed the finish line where a friendly marshall gave me a bag of apples which were nice for the trip home.

I wanted to average 12k an hour but think I only managed about 11,5 - was at 13kmph average at the 35k mark with most of the climbing done so disappointed not to have been able to keep that pace going - more strength needed.

Will be back next year - worth the scenic drive and expense of the trip.

Tomorrow is roadie day in Malmesbury which will probably be hard given how my legs are feeling.

I'm off to raid the arnica ice gel I got in my CTCT race pack and mentally compose my treatise on why MTB is so much bloody harder than road biking - it really is.

The guy in 1st in 2h08........yah fcuken right!!

i can confirm 1,3 & 4 shouldn't be there. Jurgen Uys the winner is also missing from Racetec. He literally rode away from us within the first 300 meters, never to be seen again. Bloody Animal ????????????

And I'm still riding. According to racetec - I did it in 12:22. Hope you okes left me a beer and some apples.

Don't stress yet mamil. Get some rest. See u at WACT in the morning. Sore and tired legs and all. Today was ROF!

It was hey! It would have been easier if there hadn't been so much sand.

See you tomorrow!

As someone that has done the last 7 Fine Breede MTB rides I am more impressed every year. It just gets better and better. In 2011 there was no single track, now there is some of the most fun single track with magnificent views.

What I like most about rides in this area is the sand, it's lots of fun if you manage to stay in the groove. The Brandvlei Cellars ride is just as much fun if you like a bit of sand.

Thank you so much to the organisers, trail builders and everyone else involved. This is one of the few events where my wife and kid wake up at 5am just to come along for all the fun at the venue. We will be back next year.

Just washed my bike after yesterday's ride - both tyres have at least 8 thorns in them each - plugging their own holes. Gotta love tubeless.
