Enjoy

Here goes another one of those horrid please help me choose threads! I have a pretty good idea of what it is that I am looking for but thought it best to approach the Oracle aka the Hub readership for some advice.

Herewith the facts:

- Managed to secure a Sani2C entry so have started riding again - would like to upgrade bike as plan to do more races post Sani

- Price range is 60-70k

- I weigh 110kg and am just over 6 foot

- Want a bike that ticks the above boxes

I have done my homework and have narrowed my choices down to (in order of preference, I think):

i) Momsen Vipa 2

ii) Cannondale Scalpel Si

iii) Specialized Camber

iv) Cube AMS Pro 110

I was about to pull the trigger on the Momsen but then thought that with my weight would it not make sense going for a brand that offers a lifetime warranty on the frame a surely 110kgs in going to crack a carbon frame at some point?

Want to pull the trigger this week so any thoughts would be welcome!

Cheers

AFAIK that photo needs a couch underneath the bike, hub tradition

Sitting@89 this one is for you. This pic is post first ride but pre wash. Also a bit of a change to the couch, this bike is so cool I though it deserved a bar stool over a Lazy Boy!

First ride was awesome, although I did take a fall on a rocky section so have some deep scratches on the bike, but hey that is what the thing was designed for!

I know this thread is now done and dusted, congrats Wet Ears, very nice bike. I'm interested to know though why Trek never made the list? A friend recently was in a similar position, also weighing in at 112 odd kg, he ended up buying a Fuel EX 9.8 with lifetime frame warranty. Awesome bike, just strange to me that it's a brand that's seldom considered?

Thanks Stretched@Birth. The reason for me going with SC was that I have yet to hear a bad thing about the bike. With other bikes there are some people who may love the brand but there are as many who tell you to steer clear (often from personal experience). To date I have yet to hear anyone say stay clear of a Santa Cruz. I was also fortunate that a mate had a Tallboy which he loaned to me for a weekend and I loved the ride. Perhaps my choice would have been different if he owned a Trek, one never knows.
