Anyone in the Umhlanga/La Lucia/Durban North area that wouldn't mind a tag-along for a warm-up ride on Thursday/Friday/Saturday?

also hoping there a few rides from casino area.......... down from Wednesday.... maybe there are others that want to get together??? think there's a club leaving from casino most mornings??

If you dont come right...

Thursday are normally circuits...so go to bike and bean and hang onto one of the bunches.

Friday coffee rides.

Saturday we (ECCC) should be doing an easy ride from Sun coast parking...leaving at 5.30am...route unknown but i will update later in the week.

Normally there are lots of clubs which ride from Sun Coast on the weekend...being a long weekend...there should be people riding from Sun Coast on Thursday...Friday and Saturday.

I see the VA, VB and VC bunches were super small last year.  Do they combine these or are we riding separate?

Can't comment for last year, but in 2015 they only combined VA (30-34) & VB (35-39) into one start group with separate category prizes. The rest of the 5 year age groups rode separate start times.

Assume that you'll be racing 50-54 but could end up with other 50+ categories.

stay off the M4 from Durban to Umhlanga...i wouldnt say it is safe to ride from Umhlanga to Balito...but a lot of people do ride that section of the road on the weekend.

if you ride the M19...just be careful there have been the odd incident of theft going up...dont ride alone.

other than the motorist who feel the need to pass the cyclist then turn into the driveway...and the ones who feel the need to pass the cyclist on the off ramps "quickly" no matter how late they leave it...it has been a pleasure riding on the road...just remember to thank people who slow down and give way...or stop at stop streets and robots to allow us to pass...we even had a guy recently who felt the need to follow us for 20 km...just because he could.

a nice ride is the one up from Springfield through Westville and up over Cowies hill...then back down the M19...or if you feel like a little longe ride...go along Sydney road...up Jacobs ladder through Malvern...Northdene...Pinetown and back down the M19.

on the Friday, you better off riding within the suburbs. head from LaLucia, down to Suncoast-[ or Ushaka], and then loop back via NMR Avenue onto Umhlanga Rocks drive all the way past Gateway and then back down to La Lucia.

There has been an increase in bike theft/jackings in Durban so just be aware.

No road is safe to ride on, we at risk every time we get onto our bikes so we just have to be carefull.

Thats better suited for the Saturday. The taxi's and cars will still be out on this route on Friday.
