Vetplant Posted July 20, 2017 Share ooooohhhhh balls. Going over Tom Jenkins......Also over Wonderboom pass! And here I thought this was going to be relatively "flat". 1253m of total climbing I like the Full Road Closure part... Vetplant Posted July 20, 2017 Share I'll be there regardless. One of a very few hometown races. The N4 part out to Harties does not interest me, so will be doing the 60km route which has the nice sections. Vetplant Posted July 20, 2017 Share Soooo looking forward to this. Finally a race in SA with some gradient challenges in. 947 has 1488m of climbing, which is a bit more than Tshwane. However, I think you are right in that the top gradients in the Tshwane Route are going to hurt big time. Gonna have to recon Tom Jenkins soon, which I fear is gonna burn deep! Bateleur1 Posted July 20, 2017 Share They'll have to advertise like crazy imo. (TV/Radio) Thats for sure. I more hope that on race day they have everything under control. Traffic management will be key. That part through "the Old HF Verwoerd" will be challanging. I assume it would be on a Sunday. bertusras Posted July 20, 2017 Share Strava has it pegged just over 1000m elevation though https://www.strava.com/routes/9727800 Edit: There are a number of seriously busy exchanges/road that they'll need to close, not sure how this is going to work. bertusras Posted July 20, 2017 Share Tom Jenkins!! Gonna be lots of walkers up there! I drove down there in the car today and was shaking around like crazy. Going up it's going to be a tough one with the poor road condition added in.
