Jehosefat Posted May 15, 2017 Share Why not do the 947 MTB race this year and the road race next year? Or do both. They are a week apart after all.
Rich990 Posted May 15, 2017 Share How do you know? 6h20 of pain in the heat, coupled with cramps from 35km in. Not my greatest day out. That said, I was also hopelessly undertrained.
ChrisF Posted May 15, 2017 Share Jip, a MTB runs out of revs in the mid 40's .... possible to get into the 50's, but not comfortably. While the road bikes then still have a gear or two left ..... That said. Knowing the limitations of your bike, just dont try to race a roadie. ENJOY your day in the saddle !! Afterall, apart from the first group the rest of us are there for our enjoyment .... though some loose focus in the heat of the moment. I have seen some really stupid moves when people get a second wind and suddenly wants to pass a few bikes .... I know some serious riders that avoid the Argus - exactly because of the insane number of inexperienced riders and the inevitable spills .....
