You get two. One for the rear jockey and one for V brakes. Its a roller that site where the noodle usually is, it allows for a smoother cable line to the brakes for better braking. I got some on my tandem.

For lack of a better picture, here's one. This one is upside down, but as it, the housing will slide in from the bottom side and stop, and the cable will continue over the roller and out the copper tip. It does make for better braking with V Brakes...

A rollermajig is more than a pulley. In a tamdem it changes the mechanical advantage of the brake lever, allowing standard road levers to be used with V-brakes. The reason for this is that V-brakes require far more travel than caliper brakes and cannot be used with caliper brake levers unless you modify the travel. The rollermajig acts like a mini gearbox and converts a small bit of travel at the lever into a large travel by the time it reaches the V-brakes. Tandem riders are usually too fat for standard caliper brakes.

A Rollermajig is an Avid product. One as Johan says is there to change the mechanical advantage of V-brakes. The other fits into the cable entry of Shimano Rear derailleurs to allow elimination of the large loop of housing behind the derailleur. This reduces friction for the first ride and thereafter causes all manner of shifting problems. Steer clear of them on Derailleurs.

Fat Tandem Riders use Arai drum brakes.
