8.7km @ 10.3%

Basically go up Kloof nek for 8.7km and some

As 'Dale likes to say, "that will wake the legs up"

I always wonder why they(the organisers) do that. I personally prefer a hill top finish.

Take a guy like Nibali, Might be just 30 seconds off the front at the top but due to his superior descending skills he can catch, pass and win the stage. Is it then really a stage for the best climber? No doubt a descent like that would still be exciting though. Imagine if Sagz could stick with Nibali up a climb on a stage like this. He would win the stage.........

NQ really didnt impress me at all in the Giro, his team were really good (all of Movistar are in all fairness) but he lacked the sustainability of his best secret weapon - Long rage attacks on mountains. He would kick, create a gap and then fade. Other than the Blochaus stage he didnt have it.

They tried everything to unseat Big Tom and that would use a lot of energy over 3 weeks and that would cost him going into Tour. To do the double now I believe is impossible, the gap between Giro and Tour is to close, before the gap was "do-able" in terms of April - July but now that they have moved the Giro dates its not.

I think the contenders are happy he raced the Giro cause he wont really be a factor in my opinion at the Tour.

Movistar will ride for Valverde in July.

Assuming all the top GC contenders were at both the Giro and Tour, with the dates remaining as is (May and July)... do you think one person could win both?

In this day and age, certain riders only target one GT, and give their all for that GT - so it's not possible to achieve the double under those conditions, unless luck plays a big part and guys (targeting only the one GT) start crashing out.

I Think that April - July would be doable.

recovery takes time yes. surely you could recover and get back to peek fitness in 2 + months. It cant take you more than a month to recover. :whistling:
