The objective is to get people to want to 'skill-up' by realizing how much fun an Enduro is. I have tried to invite several friends to come join the Giba Gravity, but they're all to *** scared because they think it's going to be hectic.

go to an enduro, see how *** fun it is in the atmosphere & general tomfoolery, realise that the trails are beyond them but it's still *** fun, get better cos they wanna carry on with the vibe and get better, enjoy....

Enduro has such an elitist connotation in RSA...NOT perpetuated by ppl who enter them but by people who don't enter them.

I though they were super tough and technical until I entered my first one...Then you realise you're often just riding the trails you ordinarily would on the weekend if   you went to that venue.

So don't make a call for dummed down Enduro events. Suck up your pride and attend one and see it's not this scary thing where you think you may die.

The less skilled okes should rather skill-up outside the framework of an event and then bring their bag of party tricks on race day.

Asking for easier/dumbed down enduro events is like making the 94.7 only 35km so that the unfit/overweight chaps can compete too.

In an ideal world this would be great ... and in an ideal world the Gupta's would be sponsoring events

In case anyone is looking for a great bike to get into enduro riding, I'm selling most of my 650b trance (aside from fork, stem, bars and brakes).

Send me a pm or keep an eye on the classifieds.

Sorry I have been quiet ... Our Telkom lines have been redistributed ... grrr!

Anyway  here is some latest news on the Howick Enduro (23/24 Sept)

- Skills clinic 23 Sept with some of the best KZN riders acting as coaches. 3 groups.. beginners, intermediate and advanced. The couches will give you tips and show you techniques on how to ride and tackle the obstacles. Skills will take place on the actual race route so you can put the skills to the test :)

- Skills to be followed by a free-ride/un-official practice session as all race routes will be open. Please note that you may only practice the routes if you have been part of the skills clinic

- Its a long weekend so possible get-together on Saturday night... venue/time to be confirmed. Cheap beer/pizza, beer/burger or beer/wors roll option for those who would like to carbo-load for the race the next day

- Race day 24 Sept : option of either Enduro full (5 Stages) or Enduro Lite (3 Stages). Both categories have podium positions. Inter-schools option will also be included (riders will still be eligible for individual participation)

- 3 new/revised Stages. Combo-entries at a reduced price for skills/full Enduro or skills/Enduro Lite
