Odinson Posted July 17, 2017 Share I was born on the 26th of June 1981. This won't change. It is a fact. At least I think so. Who know's how concrete my birth certificate is. This year I am 36 years old. That's a fact right?Guess what happens next year. Nah, dude. popcorn_skollie Posted July 17, 2017 Share So my wall is green and I then paint it blue, I change facts? Fair enough. I can concede to being flimsy. But does that make it false? If you painted your wall blue. Its blue. Is that a belief? An opinion? How would you define your wall being blue. How would you define your wall being blue.If something is flimsy, it cant be stated as fact But on my perception blue being blue, well now you are delving into philosophy, and that's something that I can't really comment on, not my strong point. popcorn_skollie Posted July 17, 2017 Share Nah, dude. You're better than this ^^ Nearly missed this. No comic sans. I actually found it heartwarming. Still. As petty as I may have been. Lets look at Patch's walls.Lets get a group of scientists to measure the light bouncing off it.If they determine it as blue. Would that be a fact? Lets look at Patch's walls.Lets get a group of scientists to measure the light bouncing off it.If they determine it as blue. Would that be a fact?yes. We (as humans) have assigned the name "blue" to a certain spectrum of wavelengths of light. To another extraterrestrial race, that colour may be categorised as "plingitngs" but it remains that wavelength. That's also the important thing regarding your age. Yes, next year you will be 37. But that fact is relative to the date at which you make that proclamation, and is measured against your date of birth. The fact that you are 36 now does not in any way mean that a fact is not a fact. It means that today, you are 36 years old, considering your DOB. You will be 37 next year, at the same time. Just as today is 17th July 2017. In a few hours, it will be 18th July 2018 in areas of Australia and other eastern countries. Doesn't change the fact that here, now, it is the 17th. Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted July 17, 2017 Share Bazinga?Nope. It's a fact that is relevant to the time in which it was uttered. IOW a time-sensitive fact, one that takes into account that the nature of the measurement is that it moves as time goes on.

Thor Buttox Posted July 17, 2017 Share Anyhoo. To get this thread back on track. If the earth isn't flat, how do you explain the Free State? #alternativefacts #platsoosnpannekoekMaybe plateau is actually Afrikaans? (Although the second defn 'state of little progress after some activity' probably is more apt) Edited July 17, 2017 by Thor Buttox
Jenna Chicky Posted July 17, 2017 Share by the wavelength of the light rays that bounce back off it. Eldron Posted July 17, 2017 Share That would depend on the fact whether it is a specular reflection or a diffuse reflection .It has been many years since university but I'm pretty sure wavelength only changes in refraction not reflection...
