Breaking spokes

I have a Scott Speedster for +3 years

It very soon started breaking spoke nipples on the back wheel.

I had the wheel rebuild and it was fine fr years.

Suddenly this afternoon.

TWANG

A spoke broke at the hub.

Is this a sign of spoke fatigue.

Maybe have them relaced every three years ?

That ain't bad mileage for spokes , I replace mine every two years if I have not recently built on new wheels.

^ as said above , although he'll probably post on this thread as well

Seems like I got back from holiday just in time!

Usually two reasons for the spoke breaking at the hub. 1) Damage from the chain snagging between the the cassette and hub or 2) fatigue.  If it is chain damage you may need to replace all the outbound spokes on that side (usually 8).  If fatigue I would suggest replacing that spoke for a start and then all the spokes if another one goes.  The original problem (nipples crumbling) is most likely from using aluminium nipples.

No offense but if you changing spokes every 2 years you need a new wheel builder / better quality spokes.

Time is not relevant so replacing spokes every x years is pointless.  It is how many miles you put on in a year that is relevant.  The weight of the rider also contributes to the wear of the spokes.  As David Marshall said.  Replace the one spoke and go on.  If you break another spoke or two on the same wheel in a short space of time then one should start thinkning of replacing all.
