Pure Savage Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 google using a carbon bike on a trainer...some say it is bad...some say it is an urban myth...some say it might affect warranties...some say it is all bullshyt and there is no problem...as veebee indicated he hasnt had an issue...its your call. Some say by bike is insured
Cyclewizz Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Even though there's a place for Power Studios I think they loose out a lot to VA.Since VA put WattBikes on their floors a large number of people have started to train with power. There are a few VA that only have WattBikes in their studios and supposedly have structured classes. These classes are included in the monthly fees.Cheaper power meters, smart trainers, Zwift, etc all play their part as well. Personally I think there's money to be made but it can also be a tough market as there are a number of cyclists that are getting setup in their own homes. I know of 1 Power Studio that didn't last too long, maybe 3 months and it closed down.
Veebee Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Some say by bike is insured Exactly, just get a new one when the carbon breaks.
Tristand Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Also been using both my carbon road and TT bike on the IDT without issue for the last 2 years Apparently IDTs are not a problem so long as you keep away from A-Frame models. Most are not. Something about the location and direction of the load is a problem on those,it is fundamentally different to riding on the road.
Spurs Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 Thread revival.... Anyone know of Power based training studio's in the Cape? I know of the one in willowbridge, but any that are closer to town?
