JohnnyB3 Posted July 27, 2017 Share I'm looking for a plug and play bike rack for my Audi A1.I was told that Thule don't make a rack for my car.I really don't want to put a tow bar on my car just for my bike and also can't fit my 29" bike in the car even with the seats down. Any one got a solution? or anyone with an A1 got a bike rack that worked for them? Pure Savage
Odinson Posted July 27, 2017 Share A1 is a no-go for boot-mounted racks. Your only options are a tow bar mounted rack or a roof rack. Eddy Gordo

Pure Savage Posted July 27, 2017 Share Here we go, this is your best bet. Will ratchet onto your car, I have done this on a friends A1. You can add some plastic, but i never did and had no issue. Its a platform rack so your bike will love you. You can lock it onto your car. https://www.gumtree.co.za/a-sports-bicycles-fitness/langebaan/thule-bike-rack-for-sale/1002003473820910071415609 Pleasure You get a lekker trip up the West Coast! madbradd Posted July 27, 2017 Share I run the 3-bike hang on version of that Thule Raceway on my BMW E90. What a win. The other option is a sea-sucker rack. The Token guys have recently started distributing them. http://www.tokencycling.co.za/seasucker-bike-carriers.html JohnnyB3
Eddy Gordo Posted July 27, 2017 Share roof rack should be the best option if towbar is out of budget JohnnyB3

Odinson Posted July 27, 2017 Share Just because you can fit some universal rack onto an A1 doesn't mean you should. There's a good reason Thule and Buzzrack don't make a boot rack to fit the A1. My 2c. NelAndre
LazyTrailRider Posted July 27, 2017 Share Don't waste your time. Get a towbar, end of story. No, it doesn't look crap, it's all in your mind. Once you've used a proper towbar-mounted platform rack, you'll get that "how the @$!% did I ever consider anything else?!" feeling. I promise. Eddy Gordo Posted July 27, 2017 Share towbar with thule velo compact I had the thule raceway three, surface damage and not sturdy on rough terrain. my 2cI am of the opinion that all these platform racks are specifically for Road bikes. I also find that the bikes sway on the second and third fixing point cause the attaching arm is too long. I make use of ratchet straps to make sure they are secure for long trips
JohnnyB3 Posted July 27, 2017 Share Hi....just curious..........why not a tow-bar? Just a bit of mission just for a bike rack. Would prefer to get something that doesn't involve a bunch of garage work. Also pretty steep to install. Considering a roof rack as well maybe.
