Recommendation hydro therapy pool Cape Town

So I've done some hydro physio to help maintain the mobility of my leg after my femoral neck break 3 weeks ago. I loved it - what a relief to be weightless and to be able to move my limbs!

Very expensive though and no reason why I wouldn't be able to do it on my own now that I know what movements are permitted and what ones need to be avoided. I'd rather not pay a professional rate every time when all I need is access to a pool.

Problem is the pool needs to meet the following requirements -

At least 1.91m deep end

Easy non slip access with stairs going deep enough to allow me to crutch in to a reasonable depth - at least waist high.

I've tried calling the various gyms but something appears to have gone wrong with the education system because explaining these requirements and getting a coherent answer seems an exercise in futility.

I'm not hopeful that such a pool exists outside of specialised physio rooms?

Anyone else had experience of water based therapy? Suggestions and options?

Mamil speedy recovery !

modern pools are only 1,5m deep.  with very few going as deep as 1,6m.  Gym's are typically 1,5m at the side, and then quickly up to about 1,2m for most of the length ...

so in short, it would be interesting to see if you can get a 1,9m deep pool, short of at a rehab facility ....

also - you dont mention water temp ..... mid 20's are typical of "swimming" pools, else athletes start sweating. ..... rehab pools may be into the 30's .....

The physios in the basement at Vincent Pallotti have a hydrotherapy pool. They also have biokineticists there. You'll be in good hands, and the pool's heated... oh-so-nice in winter

Thanks all. Not a good bone to break but it didn't displace and surgeon predicts complete recovery. Risks are non fusion and avascular necrosis of the ball part of the hip but relative youth, non smoker non drinker not overweight by too much and fit all mitigate these risks to a large extent apparently.

Wasn't even a difficult piece of trail ... is it ever?

3 months and i'll be seeing just how unfit i will have become. Looking forward to building up fitness again.

I'll check out the vincent p option, sounds like it might be more reasonably priced.

Apparently the constantia virgin active pool is very deep and has metal stairs which are probably doable for me.

Also I remembered the swimming coach who taught my daughter to swim years back had a pool in hout bay and she's offered it to me to use. Heated too. A bit far to travel but needs must.

Being injured has been and continues to be an interesting and instructive experience. On the comeback trail and maybe just maybe i'll be lining up with the other F'ers in F batch for cyclosportif 5.

Best wishes with the recovery.

Take time to enjoy the "F-batch" .... can actually be FUN to take part in FUN-rides .....  Only ONE snake goes home happy, :whistling:   while all fun-riders enjoy the day.
