50% crash replacement afaik, and yes manufacturer warranty for stupid little things that may happen.

Mate rides with one and had a crash they will only cover 20% that’s what they told him.

Posted this in Gear for Enduro, but figure it may be more useful as a link in this thread. The Uvex Jakkyl for a decent price I think https://www.flook.co.za/product/uvex-jakkyl-hde-enduro-mtb-helmet-black

FWIW I've also bought from the site before with no previous hassle

I would actually like to buy the Jakkyl from this website but wondering where I can try the helmet on for size first?   :whistling:

Edit: In Cape Town.

And then wonder why there's nobody that stocks what you want locally...

What, so buying from a local online retailer at a very reasonable price is an issue?

If you want to buy on a digital platform don't expect someone else to finance your analog experience.

Very well put, I'll admit. Easier said looking outside in though... As a consumer I do prefer to find a balance, and sometimes there are some constraints that do not always warrant every transaction to be from a LBS unfortunately. But your concern for the matter is valid.

100%. If you want a fat discount then you have to work with what you have... a size guide and a choice. If not doesn't fit then that's what it is, tape it up, send it back, pay the postage and wait for the next one but check the returns policy. It's the trade off for the price. You want the thing at the cheap price but don't want to sacrifice the shop experience. The same shop experience that comes with inherent costs but you don't want to pay for the convenience.

Tricky balance to find especially with online shopping starting to gain the traction here that has been common overseas.

In a few countries some people are charging for trying stuff on which comes off the price if you buy. Seems weird but you can totally understand if there are loads of people just coming in, trying stuff on and going and buying somewhere else. Who pays the bills and costs? Else maybe a shop that is a 'library' of items might be a good business model where you stock 1 size of almost all the range and charge a subscription model for the year.

An interesting Podcast with local UK bike shop owners and what they face, the community angle and a lot to say about the direct model / online retail angle.
