GrahamS2 Posted October 11, 2017 Share It's ironic how often peeps go on about Pyga's indestructibility and how their geo is so progressive, but even the newer models, such as the Stage and Stage Max, have very middle of the road geometry and there have been numerous posts here of okes snapping alu Pyga frames. Yes, they're solid bikes, but ease up on the Kool-Aid, fanbois. I must have missed these posts. Maybe 4 years ago it was progressive, but these days trail bike are all so similar. That said, the oneten had the least pedal bob I've experienced on a full suss, so something was right in the design.
johnson Posted October 11, 2017 Share They're great bikes. They're not the Lord Saviour of MTB'ing though, which some will have you believe.I Totally agree with you but neither is any other brand.
johnson Posted October 11, 2017 Share The Pyga brand is probably a bit overrated on the hub to put it mildly. In the 2017 Epic for example 32% of riders were riding on Specialised bikes...1 % were on Pyga's. If 50% of all entrants were foreign it means that at the most only 2% of South African Epic competitors used Pyga's. A lot more propaganda is required This is just my opinion so don't take it too seriously. But I think the Epic is a bit overrated to put it mildly. johnson Posted October 11, 2017 Share Just to set things straight. I've owned about 90% of the bike brands out there and i'm not a fanboy of any and also won't trash any. I Currently own three mtb's and they are three diffrent brands. Each one has it's purpose and does it well. I Bought my wife a Camber because I think it's a realy nice and capeble bike. For most peaple out there the specs, geo, tech and all fancy talk don't make a diffrence in how they ride. It's mostly what pleases the eye unless you have a purpose and need the right tool for the job.

Fox3 Posted October 11, 2017 Share Are there any Pyga haters out there? I have yet to hear of one, which is always a good sign. Keen to swing a leg over one myself, hopefully someday soon...Said it on page one bud...don't like 'em
Buffet Posted October 11, 2017 Share I have a Pyga Stage mini max.Now I want more travel.....cannot fit a pike shock on a Pyga stage, bit disappointing, If I had to buy again I'd get the Max, 67 degree HAT vs the current 69 degrees. Then of course if the Santa Cruz bikes were just a little more attainable.... Good luck with the decision. Why can you not fit a Pike shock on to it? The Stage I test rode had 110mm rear travel with a 140mm trail fork up front. That bike was awesome. Can't say it felt unbalanced in any way. I disagree, go try and remove a Cape Epic sticker from a frame, that should change your mind.

johnson Posted October 12, 2017 Share Sjoe thats a lot. So which bikes do you rate as the best?Hi Andre'. Sorry but I can't answer your question because I don't think there is a best brand or bike. That's actually the point i'm trying to make but it seems I under estimated the knowledgeable bike guru's on the hub by far. I'm sure an experienced cyclist like yourself doesn't need any pointers or advice from me anyway. If you tell Rouxtjie what my post count is he will tell you that I am like a kid and should be seen and not heard.....so that's what I'll do. By the way, your Crux came out a real stunner ! Bogus magic as usual !

BUT the op of this thread is. Seeing that you have owned so many bike, weigh in and give your opinion, that's what he is asking for, sharing your experience of various bike brands could be an invaluable contribution to the thread.
