Which Vipa

Boerklong, what will her capacity be to service the bike in future?

An mechanical system will be a lot easier and a great deal cheaper to maintain than the Di system.

Also, should something go wrong during a race / stage race, etc.

I had a Vipa with Xt on for a while, to ride and decide, and I was mightily impressed with the bike.

Thanks a lot to all. She saw the thread and its up to her now

Please extend our sincerest apologies. What a / the reply should or could have been

The VIPA 2 Di2 has the following going for it

- Di2 may or may not take some thinking away. Not sure how skilled she is.Di2 has proven itself to be largely reliable and should not sway your opinion too much. You could even flog that groupset and slap a GX Eagle 1x12 on there to get around any possible electronic issues down the line and get your wife a 1x drivetrain that will take away front shifting a well. Also, no batteries to remember to charge

- Momsen Carbon cockpit

- Mk3 of Stan's Crest rims means a wider tyre contact patch for better grip and traction

- arguably better colours

- more recent year model which will help with resale

Whether that's worth R4k to you only you can decide, but the 2017 bike has a bit more going for it than the 2016

Happy shopping and riding!

Will also reiterate consider the Di2 as I said in my earlier post.

I have Di2 on my road and tt bike, set up once and forget about as there is very little maintenance once indexed and no adjustment for cable creep. Charge the battery every 3 months, but is dependent on amount of riding and easy to fine tune should you ever need.

If you decide Di2 not for you, you will be able to sell on and go to a mechanical eagle as Iwan indicated
