Got that sms stating  I can register for the "riller in Harties" aka Magalies Monster today.

 

Did my thing and saw it is R400 for the halve marathon   Bloody hell. I know its a long way of so I can save for it but that is a little steep. Think I paid R260 last year. Inflation is a

 

Now I have to get this by the BOSS without getting injured...

So this will be my first year doing the full MM... did the half a few years back and really enjoyed it... it was already tough as a half...

 

So i'm rather nervous... but flippin excited at the same time. Will be one of the few medals that I will actually be proud of!

 

Any suggestions for training, so I can klap it, not survive it?

Find all the steepest hills you can find and push your bike up it in your cleats and kit - good practise.

 

Honestly just ride big hills often and got used to longer distance and longer time out on the bike than usual.

My favourite thing is how the race sets the tone so early on. The good vibes and the smell of bacon through the campsite, smiles everywhere, just an overall nice atmosphere.

 

Literally the second you leave the campsite there is that first kicker. Loose rocks, guys struggling to uncleat, pandemonium. Its all uphill from there.

Just beware that they are changing the route again this year, so the old route map wont help much on race day.

Ok thanks bud. Ya I just wanted to look at the 2017 gpx in detail, and then I will make allowance that some of the tracks will change without changing the overall profile i suppose.
