I saw the news on weightweenies.com yesterday - Centaur, Chorus, Record & Super Record for next year will be 11 speed.

This Bora wheel brochure, posted on weightweenies,  lists the weels as Campy 9s/10s/11s compatable.

I don't know what problem it would solve. More a strategic thing to keep sales healthy, & offer the market something Shimano & SRAM dont have.

The looks like the freehub body stays the same, so it means a thinner chain.  So shorter chain life, it will up their chain sales. After a couple of years, you will either have to upgrade your 10s Centaur/Chorus/Record gruppo to 11s or buy Veloche sprockets.

Shifting may be a touch quicker, because the distance the derailleur moves between sprockets will be less.

But if the smallest is still 11 and the biggest is round about 27, what have you gained other than perhaps 'marginally' quicker shifts?

Just wondering .......

I go with the marketing thing so they can sell more!

yip.marketing makes the world go round. or sales go up. depends how you look at it. The gaps between the gears ratios will also be narrower. so closer and faster shifts, combined with street cred, leads you to being a total yuppie.

Damn those marketing gurus at campy!! Just as i get my grouppo they go and make me drool over this now. Crumbs...what to do....sell off bits of my anatomy to get it??? Because I simply must just have it, there is no maybe.

Campy could make a grouppo where you need 4 thumbs to operate it, and i would still sell my brother to get it.  11 speed, nice, damn......wait, here it comes....... AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHH rng;eqklnglq/ smdv ...........Campy attack

It's not that they want to change the biggest or smalles available, they just want to give you every possible gear inbetween. If/when they go to 12 speed. You can get a 12-23 with every gear inbetween.

It's all just marketing, we don't need it.

You'd think. but its damn nigh impossible to get an 11-23 that includes a 12 and an 18.

I heard a while back that shimano were testing 14 speed?

They almost never include a 18.

This is BBB's range

11-12-13-14-15-16-17-18-19-21 (S) no 23

11-12-13-14-15-16-17-19-21-23 (S,C) no 18
11-12-14-15-16-17-19-21-23-25 (S) no 18

See... scampy 11-23 with 12 and 18 isnt easy to get hold of... so the 11spd will be nice

Why oh why will no one make a 20? I'd kill for a 12-21... just 10speed... 11 is no good to me, as is 23...

I must say, i really need the new 11 speed Campy, in any ratio, In fact i won't sleep well at all until i get it. Knowing I'm sitting with just ten speeds when eleven are available will drive me insane.

So, as you can see, in order to prevent my inevitable insanity I NEED to upgrade to 11 speed.
