tri bars on a mountain bike? hmmm. I can just imagine the comments.

I rode a few weeks back with a guy prepping for the Freedom Challenge and he had tri-bars on his Santa Cruz Tallboy.

If it works for you, who cares about the comments.

i guess, for me, the question is - if I say I can no longer go off-road, wouldnt a road bike suit my needs better? I do like the idea of the speed that they go at.

I suppose the first question is, will you never be able to go offroad again?

I won't lie, I have absolutely no knowledge about the specific condition you mentioned, but would suspension (even on the road) not be more beneficial than a stiff road frame and rigid fork? I mean, I love my road bike, but sometimes you hit little 'imperfections' in the road surface and worry your teeth might get shaken out of your head...haha

I think whichever way you go, those tri-bars could potentially be a big help.

The guy I mentioned (I've forgotten his name but think it was Philip something) said the first time he rode the Freedom he didn't have feeling in his hands for months and that's why he now rides with the tri-bars.

dont worry. googled it.

Ja that could definitely work. Thanks. something to think about

The thing about a hybrid is that the geometry would be right.

Aerobars might help a bit but again if there's wind your stability will be compromised and you'll probably end up going back onto your normal position to counter the wind.

and I live in PE!
