Ive got one of those Xeccon Spear 900 jobbies that I picked up from One Day Only a while back, and I tend to have to run it in medium mode when cycling at night or face flashes from oncoming traffic. It's proper bright and got some pretty decent reviews. It's USB rechargeable which is lekker, and lasts quite long... mind you... I can't really remember when last I charged it?! Hehe

Xeccon is very under rated for the price.

I also use the Spear 900, great beam pattern and the quality very impressive.

I did not like the having it mounted upright, so I simply swopped the unit around so it hangs of my handlebars. Looks cooler and works like a charm...

Seems like this is a good combination and right on the money...

if you plan to do a lot of city commuting: do not get the Garmin accident/ warning thingy. With the amount of vehicles passing  the thingy will drive you to a mental breakdown in a matter of days.

You really do not need a 1000 lumens light if you intent to use it for only town commuting

The light should be quick to remove if you want to run into a shop/ cafe for something. In this instance external battery-packs are really a time consuming irritant.

Fitting a front viewing headlight to your helmet: remember that it shines were you look. If you are like me and automatically look towards a persons face, remember that you may effectively blind that driver/ walker/ cyclist.

This depend on where you intent to store the bike during the workday. If a lot of people passes by the bike, it may be knock over or hooked. Mounts tend to break. Get a extra compatible mount.
