Don’t wait for Spez, take out the fork and get it to one of the following urgently, that fork needs specialist care.

Pretoria: https://www.cogentindustries.co.za/
Cape Town: http://www.stokesuspension.com/
Port Elizabeth: https://www.robbiesbicycleconcept.co.za/

All will provide great service, and then buy yourself some Brunox Deo, there has to be a good reason why you see the Rockshox technicians use it on the world XC series, and EWS. (Sommer nou) https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/brunox-deo-suspension-lube

New seals and wipers, an apology and a handshake.

Let’s see if it lasts longer than 3 rides this time around

Did you see the new seal kit packaging and the old removed seals? The way they have been treating you up to now, I would not trust them....

Hope that they did resolve your problem.

Did you order the Brunox Deo?

Saw the old removed seals. Pretty miff.

Did not ask to see the new packaging. Rockshox OEM seals on again. Might opt for SKF next time.

Will get my order in for the Brunox Deo tomorrow.

Not that it matters, but they did do everything FOC

Glad you got it sorted, but was it FOC? Thought they already charged you for the service of the bike which included servicing the fork, which they did not do? So you already paid for the fork service?

New seals and wipers will be an additional charge

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I think my issue fits this post like a glove.

We bought a pre loved xc bike from an LBS, the owner assured us on numerous occasions that the fork was in perfect working order. This was Saturday 5th May. On Sunday 6th, my partner(VERY NOOB) rode the bike for 26km an complained that it was a very hard ride(I assume it's a set up issue). Before I washed the bike last night I inspected the fork and noticed this oily build-up(see images)post-129156-0-16926700-1525845305_thumb.jpg

Any advice or guidance about the way forward would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

get it serviced. Looks very dirty at the dust seal, so get the oil replaced as well as the dust seals.

Should this be covered by the business or us as the new owners of the fork?

Depends on how dirty it is on the inside, but buying second hand or pre loved is voetstoots so I would assume it would be on you. Take it to guys specializing in suspension services and get it sorted out properly and enjoy the ride.

Don't waste your money.

If your wipers are new, there is NO way that stuff can get to where it is needed.

Why would you want to or need to do this?

Not sure if you know but below the wiper is a foam ring filled with oil.

The job off the wiper is to wipe that oil of the stantion when the fork is returning to full extension. So in your case as per the pictures I would say that the wipers have seen better days. Mine does the same when the wipers starts to go.

So wiper no longer wipes ALL the oil off and thus the stantion is now covered in a thin layer of oil and dust collects on it.

Have it serviced (lowers only should be enough) and put on NEW wipers

The oil in the lowers... If the stanctions is full of oil on the outside because the wipers is done, then there might be too little oil left in the lowers. I am not talking about the oil in the damper...
